Top 5 Shoe Lust List!

Posted in Women's Fashion at 1:56 pm by styleed

Admittedly I’ve never been heaps crazy about shoes (I know, there’s something wrong with me), but it’s just in comparison with clothes and make up. That and the fact that I have a low pain threshold when it comes to shoes- I’m very into comfort! But slowly as the years have progressed, I’ve opened to different styles and am loving classic, good quality high heels, as well as my comfy flats- be it ballet flats or sandals.

So I’ve decided to list my current Top 5 Shoe Lust List! There is no order as I couldn’t decide which ones I like best!

I have “Dyed” and gone to Heaven!

Posted in Women's Fashion at 12:47 pm by styleed

Ok, I know that tie/ dip dyed clothing has been in for a while, but it just didn’t “click” with me. Yeah, I thought it was cool, and at one stage I wanted to make my own design, but that lasted for about 5 minutes! So yesterday I went shopping with my friend and total credit to her, she picked out this awesome Ladakh dip dyed top with fringing! It was $70 and well worth the money as I could wear it with leggings or tuck it into a high waisted skirt! At the moment I’m trying to save money but I figure I’m definitely going to get a LOT of wear out of it, so I’m allowed! I’m a bit narrow-minded when it comes to thinking of creative ways to wear an item, so if you’ve got any ideas, I’m all ears! [I will post a pic of it soon!]

At the moment I’m seriously thinking of converting my wardrobe into tie dye masterpieces, but realistically I know it’ll end in tears. So, I have found some other tie/ dip dye items that have caught my eye!

For those of you who have yet to try their own tie dye creation, I’ve found a video on youtube that seems relatively fool-proof! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Juy4b-K_Hns&feature=related

Good luck!

Alternative Accessories?

Posted in Women's Fashion at 1:31 pm by styleed

So while I was reading through Grazia’s February issue, I stumbled across this item: a Feather Choker by Angel Wings.Angel Wings Feather Choker

It was love at first sight! This is perfect for my collection of accessories, it’s so different and quirky, besides being a fantastic alternative to wearing normal necklaces! I can just imagine myself wearing this, with a simple tank top, skinny jeans, clutch and heels, strolling through the lanes of Paris… wait Paris? Ok, I’m probably getting a little too ‘Carrie-d’ away here (gotta love SATC), plus the fact that it’s sold out on www.itsthenewblack.com.au 😦

But never fear, a solution is here!
They’ve also got another Feather Choker, this time with beading!

I can’t make up my mind as to which one I love more… what do you think? Let me know your thoughts!

Miranda Kerr: in Adelaide!

Posted in Women's Fashion at 3:02 pm by styleed

The people of Adelaide had the pleasure of welcoming Victoria’s Secret Angel, Miranda Kerr to our David Jone’s store in Rundle Mall. Unfortunately I had to work that day so I missed the chance of being within a metre of her, but my dear, loving friend (thanks again, Jen!) was able to get me a signed picture of Miranda! Ooo, first name basis now, hahha!

I’ve been trying to get hold of the actual card  Miranda was signing for everyone, but can’t seem to find one online. I wanted to show you the outfit she wore because she looked drop dead gorgeous on the card. Oops, typo there- when isn’t she gorgeous? So instead I’ll put together my version of what she wore.

[Edited 14/03/2009] Thanks to judie for supplying a picture!

Game. Set. Match!

Posted in Women's Fashion at 3:35 pm by styleed

I’ve never been one of those gung ho tennis fans, but I do enjoy watching a few games. For the last two weeks I’ve been watching the Australian Open on my TV, inside my lovely cool air conditioned room. Poor Adelaide has endured 5 consecutive days of above 40°C weather!

During that time I took notice of the tennis outfits the major sports brands designed- Nike, Fila, Yonex, Adidas, Lacoste etc…
Out of the women players, Ana Ivanovic’s Adidas outfit caught my eye- I loved that purple colour on her and thought it went well with her skin tone. Although she is known to be one of the tennis Glamour Girls, so I guess this is to be expected.

I’d like to make an honourable mention to Venus Williams– her fluorescent highlighter yellow outfit (designed by her own brand, ‘Eleven’) caused an eye ache on most! I had to put my sunnies on, the glare was that bad! I can’t help but think it was a tactical move on her behalf… the other players probably had trouble following the tennis ball, with her camouflage-like outfit! But good on her for winning the doubles with her sister, Serena Williams!

A popular topic about the men’s outfits this tournament was Rafael Nadal’s short sleeved Nike top. Yes, you heard me, short sleeved. Not sleeveless, as many drooling fans would have preferred! I have never been an avid fan of Nadal- is that a “gasp” I hear? But managed to watch my first proper Nadal match (the semi final against Fernando Verdasco). During this game I coudn’t help but notice Nadal’s habit of picking out his wedgie after every point! Maybe someone should tell Nike to add more material to his shorts.

I’m waiting for the showdown between Nadal and Federer… I’m cheering for the FedEx!
